Wednesday , November 19

We awoke this morning to a cold 17ºF here in south-central Ohio. A little colder than normal for this time of year! Brrrrr

I can't believe next week is Thanksgiving, my first one without mom. I miss her so much. She was in a nursing home but I was still able to visit her. She wasn't able to speak for the last 3+ years and I'm not sure if she knew me or not but she knew someone was there. Alzheimer's is so devastating.
Enough of that for right now or I will be in tears. Thanksgiving will be a quiet day just Kevin and I as we have no other family near. I do have a cousin in southern KY. but that is too far to visit. I would love to move there, Kentucky and Tennessee are 2 of my favorite states.

I posted a recipe today for my great-grandmothers cream puffs.....they are soooo good. I hope you enjoy them if you try the recipe! I hope to try and post a recipe a day if I can decipher her writing. The recipes are written in pencil and a lot of them have faded, torn or are smudged. Her cookbook has been around for many years and I am so glad to have it. She lived with our family so everything was passed on to mom and then to me. I hope to start passing her things onto my cousins kids while I'm still around to see who gets what! It's time for the younger ones to enjoy the family things what there is of them, not really that many. I'm just glad her kids have a love of antiques and family!

I'm off to the kitchen now to get those chocolate chip cookies baked that I keep putting off. I know I won't be able to bake them without eating a few and I don't really need the extra weight...but it is almost the holidays....right!!!! hmmmmm sounds like a good excuse to me to sample some!! I'm going to put on a big pot of spaghetti sauce on to cook too for tonights dinner and I will freeze the rest for other meals.

Have a great day and keep warm,
God Bless,
Brenda

Dear Brenda,
Thank you for sharing one of your heritage recipes. I would love to make these. Its one of my favorite treats but I've never had a homemade one. Mmmmm

I can't imagine how tough this holiday will be without your mom. I'm so sorry.

I'd be glad to help you with your journal if you'd like. I can teach you to add those links so you can participate in the Daybook. I have really enjoyed it.

I'll check to see if you have email and send you the instructions. If not, I'll come back and just leave them as a comment. How does that sound?

Wishing you a lovely day,
Lea

Dear Brenda, Thank you so much for the visit you made to me this morning.

Wow! It is really cold where you live. Not so here on the Gulf Coast of Texas. It want be very cold until January if then.

I am sorry about your Mom. Mine has been gone for 16 years now. I miss her still very much. I am sure that your Mom knew you were there with her, she just could not express those thoughts to you.

I am excited about the recipe that you posted. I love new recipes. Thank you for sharing this one. Have a very good day. Have a Happy Thanksgiving too, your mom would want you too. connie

Brenda, that cream puff recipe is the same one I've used for about 25 years now. I don't remember where I got it but it certainly makes lovely puffs!
I hope you have a nice holiday even though you will miss your mom. I still have my mom but my dad died three years ago and it's still pretty rough at times.

Our holiday will be a quiet one, too. I think DH and I will be alone most of the day. But it will be a nice day anyway. :)

Lea , you are welcome, I will be sharing more as I sort through them all.

I'm really dreading the holidays, but mom would want me to do things like I always did and with God's help I will get through it. I lost my dad in 1971, 3 weeks before my high school graduation, I was 18. I still miss him everyday too, we were very close.

Thanks for the info on the Daybook I will work on that tomorrow, today has been hectic for some reason.I may take you up on the help on adding other things. I used to belong to MSN groups and could add gifs. etc to them without any trouble.
I have about 4000 graphics stored on my hard drive. I'll be happy to share them with you if you need something and I have it!
God Bless,
Brenda

Connie, I enjoy visiting your site! I'm sorry to hear about you mom too. My dad died in 1971 , 3 weeks before my high school graduation. We were very close and I still miss him too. My only consolation is that him and mom are together once again . I know they are happy now and that they are with God and in a much better place .
I hope you enjoy the recipe. I just love those things!
God Bless,
Brenda

My grandmother made those cream puffs when I was little. I don't know where she got the recipe, I just figured it was passed down from her mom. I have made them many times since,
